Circus Classes Los AngelesKinetic Theory Circus Arts has the only progressive, skill-based circus classes and theatre training program in the Los Angeles area. This unique program offers students of all ages and all levels classes and high-quality training from experienced professionals. Whether learning the basics, developing an act for a show, or just having fun, the Kinetic Theory Circus Arts program and classes will help you reach your goals.

Youth Classes

4-5 yr. olds work coordination, motor and social skills while learning the fundamentals of acrobatics, juggling and object manipulation as well as expressive movement.

This class allows young circus "artists" to build a strong foundation of skills. An emphasis is placed on aerial arts; however, students will also work on flexibility, strength as well as basic acrobatic skills.

Students in this class will learn the basics of aerial training gaining a strong foundation of skills on static trapeze, aerial rope (spanish web) and aerial tissue (silk). A strong emphasis is placed on developing strength and flexibility as well as building a basic trick repertoire including simple combinations and choreography. Each session culminates in an in-class demo performance.
Youth Contortion
Fridays 4:00-5:30pm
The acrobatic art of contortion requires not only flexibility and grace but strength and muscle control. Students will learn proper stretching and conditioning techniques and work basic skills as well as fundamental elements of choreography. Each session culminates in an in-class demo performance.

Private Lessons
Individual and group private lessons are available in contortion, hand-balancing, acrobatics or partner acrobatics and aerial arts as well as mime, character development, physical improvisation, choreography and act development.

This intense class combines strength training on trapeze and aerial rope with stretching exercises. Students will increase flexibility and range of motion while building muscle tone and control.

This class focuses on dance and movement basics for aerial students. Students will begin each class with a dance warm-up and movement across the floor, then bring that movement to the air on various apparatus: single point trapeze, hoop and tissue while exploring new transitions and choreography. Each session culminates in an in-class demo performance.

These classes are for experienced aerialists ready to put their skills to work on stage. Continued work on conditioning and skill development is emphasized, while exploring improvisation and choreography. Each session culminates in an in-class demo performance.

AERIAL STRAPS
Aerial straps is a circus discipline that requires intensive strength and muscle control. Learn the basic technique behind this unique apparatus. Students will learn exercises that develop upper body strength and explore inverting, spinning and swinging. Intermediate and advanced students will be challenged with skill development, including planches and roll ups as well as spinning and swinging maneuvers.

Students continued to work on flexibility, control and skill development with a strong emphasis on hand-balancing skills, while exploring improvisation and choreography. Hand-Balancing

Hand-balancing is a circus discipline that requires strength, control and, of course, balance. Students will learn proper technique and exercises to improve form, strength and flexibility while working on a repertoire of skills on the floor, on benches, pommels and other equipment.

BEGINNING
Learn the basics of tumbling and hand-balancing. A great workout and foundation class for any circus discipline.

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED
Experienced acrobats and gymnasts can take their skills to the next level in this intensive acro class. Students will continue to work their tumbling and hand-balancing skills while exploring other acrobatic styles and appartus such as hoop diving, partner acrobatics/adagio, jump rope and more. A strong emphasis will be placed on technique as well as choreography development. Each session culminates in an in-class demo performance. *Coach evaluation/approval required.

PARTNER
Learn the art of acrobatic adagio. Building trust, strength and skills as a team are just part of partnering. Students will work on counter-balancing, foot to hand, hand to hand, lifts, balancing poses and transitional movements and create a short piece to perform for the end of the session.

Chinese Pole

The Chinese pole is an acrobatic apparatus that requires a lot of strength and body control. Students in this class will learn a variety of climbs, holds and poses and, when ready, release moves. A strong emphasis is placed on building strength and proper technique.

*Students must wear pants and proper shoes for Chinese pole. Flat rubber soles: martial arts, wrestling or rubber water shoes are required. Inquire with the office for details.

Physical Theatre

Through both traditional and unconventional theatre exercises students will explore how to use their bodies, face and voices to communicate emotion, characters and stories. A vital class for any performance students, actors, dancers or anyone who wants to push the limits of their expression and communication skills.
Juggling Drop-In
Tuesdays 7:00-9:00PM
Want to learn how to juggle? Already an experienced juggler and want to learn some new tricks? Lead by 9-time World Juggling Federation gold medalist Josh Horton, this new juggling drop-in class is designed for juggling enthusiasts of all levels ages 8- Adult. Only $20! Tuesdays 7-9pm

AND juggling open workout is now open all the time! Only $5 to come in and juggle your heart out: Mon-Fri 1-4pm, Tu/Th/Sun 6-9pm. Bring your own gear or use our bean bags, clubs, rings, diabolos.


Enrollment & Class Fees
All of our classes run in 16 week sessions. You can enroll at any time in the session* and we prorate the tuition. You can also do drop-in classes if the class is not full.
*Enrollment in skill based classes (i.e. any class with a prefix of "Beginning, Intermediate or Advanced") is closed 3 weeks prior to the end of each session in order to prepare students for demo performances.

*Tuition payments and registration fees are non-refundable (exceptions are made in the event of an injury)

Our tuition rates are based on the total number of hours per week you or your family spends in class... the more you train, the less you pay per hour! An annual $30 registration fee must also be paid for each enrolled student.
